When Gene and Julie Gates wed in New York City’s Grand Central Terminal, the New York Times covered the story about their romantic ceremony. When Oprah Winfrey heard about Gene and Julie she booked them on her show. Gene & Julie are an American husband-and-wife broadcasting duo, hosts of The Gene & Julie Show. Their morning radio show has aired to over 3.5 million listeners in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas and Raleigh/Durham.
The Gene & Julie Show is recognized by the radio industry as one of the best in the business. In 2015 Gene & Julie were recipients of the “Oscar” of the radio industry: the Marconi Award for “Large Market Personality of the Year” from the National Association of Broadcasters.
They have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, PARADE Magazine, on HuffPost Live, American Idol, ABC’s “Nightline,” NBC Nightly News, CMT, CNN and Oprah Winfrey.
In 2012, the entrepreneurial bug bit and Gene & Julie became restaurateurs. They opened Battuto Italian Kitchen, a farm-to-table Italian restaurant in Dallas, Texas. They were delighted Battuto was recognized by Open Table as one of the “Top 100 Neighborhood Gem Restaurants in America.” Since then, they sold the restaurant, but they remain passionate about the culinary arts and enjoy teaching cooking and craft cocktail classes.
Gene & Julie are relationship experts. They have written relationship columns for magazines, counseled couples on their relationships and spoken to millions of listeners on the radio and television. No matter where they go, everyone asks the same question: how do they spend so much time together without driving each other crazy? After being together 24/7 for over twenty years, Gene & Julie have learned a lot about what it takes to create a happy relationship (get separate bathrooms). They have taken their advice and turned it into a manuscript to be published soon. They also deliver their “Ignite Your Couple Power” relationship workshop to convention audiences of all sizes.
When the microphones are off, Gene & Julie are doting parents to their daughter, Sophia, and they enjoy hanging out in bookstores, playing Pokemon Go and walking their dog Reggie together.
